Women’s health is a broad category that includes health issues that affect women uniquely, as well as conditions that affect both men and women. Some of the health issues that affect women include:
- Reproductive health: Pregnancy, menstruation, menopause, birth control, and sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
- Cancer: Breast cancer, ovarian cancer, and other female cancers
- Bone health: Osteoporosis and bone density screenings
- Heart disease: Women are more likely to die after a heart attack than men
- Mental health: Women are more likely to show signs of depression and anxiety than men
- Urinary tract problems: Women are more likely to have urinary tract problems than men
Some other factors that can affect women’s health include:
- Social realities like gender-based violence and discrimination, impoverishment, and limited autonomy
